Picture this: It’s the middle of the night, and a sleek muscle car roars down Domenigoni Parkway at breakneck speed, screeching around corners like a scene straight out of The Fast & the Furious.

The driver? None other than Elvis Presley, in full leather jumpsuit, with his hair perfectly coiffed, gunning it past the gas stations and taco shops like he’s street racing to an impromptu concert.

Behind him? The unmistakable rumble of Dom Toretto, also tearing through the streets in pursuit of some heist or another.

Okay, so that didn’t actually happen. But wouldn’t it be hilarious if it did? The truth is, both legends did make an appearance in Hemet, just not in the same time or place.

Dom Toretto, by way of Vin Diesel did burn rubber on Domenigoni Parkway in the 2001 Fast & Furious.

And Elvis? Well, he was just passing through, looking for a quiet place to stop and chill in our little Valley. Too bad the Hemet Zoo wasn’t around back then—he could’ve kicked back under the trees on Park Street, watching the camels and goats beg for food.

Now, speaking of fast and furious, did you know the original Fast & the Furious was filmed right here in Hemet?

The Fast & the Furious… in Hemet?

Before The Fast & the Furious became a billion-dollar franchise, the original 2001 film shot part of its now-iconic street racing scenes right here in Hemet.

The entire last rig heist sequence—featuring Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and the crew—was filmed along Domenigoni Parkway on the southern edge of Hemet and San Jacinto, near Diamond Valley Lake.

That’s right—those screeching tires and quarter-mile showdowns? Some were filmed just a few blocks from where locals now run errands or grab tacos.

For longtime residents, it’s not just trivia—it’s something they saw with their own eyes. And rumor has it, if you know where to look, you can still spot familiar streets from key scenes.

Check out this scene breakdown by Ray Roman, who dives into the filming details—from the direction Dom and the crew are driving on Domenigoni to continuity bloopers the average viewer might miss.

He even pinpoints the exact spots where different shots were filmed along the Parkway.

Hemet isn’t just a hotspot for high-speed street racing—it’s also the unlikely resting place for another icon. Long before Hemet had big-box stores and suburban sprawl, it played unexpected host to one of the world’s biggest stars: Elvis Presley.

The King of Rock ’n’ Roll once stayed in Hemet during his travels through California. He wasn’t here to perform—but even legends need a quiet stopover. Ask around, and someone’s grandma will probably swear they saw him at a diner off Florida Avenue.

Decades later, another kind of icon rolled through town—this time on four wheels. The original Fast & the Furious (2001) filmed parts of its final rig heist scene along Domenigoni Parkway. Yes, Dom Toretto himself (aka Vin Diesel) raced through our Valley before the franchise exploded into a global phenomenon.
